Data Science is everything related to data and data-driven decision-making becomes a big part of data science when you have the information you need from your raw data. The job is only half done when you have the data, it’s essential to follow up on the data. Mathematical optimization and operations research are two different things that go hand in hand so ideally, IMO, Data Science needs to be prescriptive as much as descriptive, analytical, and predictive.
